To Whom It May Concern:
It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Jason Krug in support of his application for employment. I was first introduced to Jason when he enrolled in my Urban Administration and Politics course at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse (spring, 2012). Jason was a great student, and could always be counted on for adding relevant input to the class discussions. In addition, Jason furthered our professional relationship by seeking an internship opportunity with the La Crosse County - University of Wisconsin Extension office during the summer of 2012.
Jason worked with me extensively on data collection, aggregation, and analysis for a fiscal impact land use study titled, “Town of Holland - Cost of Community Services”. Jason is a quick learner, and capable of working with minimal direction. Jason’s role involved him assembling data sets from various State of Wisconsin websites, developing Excel based spreadsheets including said data sets, and creating functions within each spreadsheet that allocated the data according to the standards of the study design. The scope of this study was extended from a typical one year analysis, to analysis for a five year time period. This significantly increased the difficulty of the study, as it directly increased the volume of data to collect, analyze and report. Jason also assisted in working with the Town of Holland’s clerk to help determine the most appropriate allocations for some of the Township’s budgetary items. This was done through written and oral communications.
Jason completed all of these tasks professionally and successfully, and was able to provide a concise, well organized master spreadsheet and file folder detailing the summer’s worth of activities. My review of Jason’s analysis has been straightforward because of the thoughtful and orderly manner for which he compiled the information. Jason also was good at thinking through issues, and thus I valued his input on matters where a straight forward answer was not always apparent.
During his time with UW-Extension, a coworker remarked to me about Jason’s hard work ethic. They indicated how impressed they were at Jason’s commitment to his work, and ability to continually apply himself. In addition, Jason is easy to talk to, and was personable with the staff at UW Extension and within La Crosse County.
It is thus without hesitation that I would recommend Jason Krug to an employer seeking a competent, organized, and well rounded employee that would perform well with others.
Sincerely,
Karl Green, Associate Professor
